Angle-from-Tower1.JPG (28543 bytes)

This view of the the field of Pickett's Charge was taken from the National Tower in 1976.  The Cyclorama building is the rather large light-colored cylindrical shaped building near the right edge of the photo.   The road just beyond the Cyclorama is Hancock Avenue.  The Angle is just off Hancock Ave. near the center of the photo.  The Charge began on Seminary Ridge at the treeline on the far side of the striped fields.  The Virginia Monument is at the treeline near the right edge of the photo.  Meade's HQ is the small white building at the intersection near the lower center of the photo.

VaMonFigures3.jpg (128540 bytes) Close-up of the figures on the base of the Virginia Monument, left side.
Picketts1.JPG (41348 bytes) A lone cannon and the field of Pickett's Charge.  The Copse of Trees (focal point of the charge) is the  right-most cluster of trees on the ridge, "The Angle" is marked by the single tree to the left of the Copse of Trees.
cannons4a.JPG (34034 bytes) A lone cannon on Seminary Ridge, poised as if to renew the bombardment of  Cemetery Ridge and  the Copse of Trees in the distance.
PickettsFieldFromSouth.jpg (132508 bytes) The field of "Pickett's Charge" viewed from the tower  on Seminary Ridge south of Millerstown Road.  In this view the battlefield appears much as it probably did in 1863.  The Peach Orchard is just out of the picture to the right, the barn near the right side of the photo is on the Emmitsburg Road.
